Hey mamas,
The back-to-school season is a time for parents to test their organizational skills, patience, and sanity. For moms, this time is filled with a whirlwind of emotions, ranging from excitement to panic. The back-to-school madness includes the Great Uniform Hunt, the Battle of the Lunchbox, the Homework Horror, the Morning Mayhem, the Morning Mayhem, and the Drop-Off Drama. The Great Uniform Hunt involves moms searching for the perfect size for their growing child, while the Lunchbox battle involves packing a balanced meal for their picky eaters. The Homework Horror involves moms becoming part-time tutors, part-time cheerleaders, and full-time comedians to help their children focus on their assignments. The Morning Mayhem involves moms juggling multiple tasks, such as getting everyone out of bed and dressed, dressing one child while making breakfast for another, and dropping off the kids at school. The Drop-Off Drama is a tearful goodbye, leaving moms questioning if they made a mistake by sending them off to school.
But don't fret, it's okay to feel overwhelmed during the back-to-school season. Embrace the chaos, laugh off the mishaps, and remember that you're not alone in this adventure. Preparing kids for school can be anxiety-inducing, but it's also an adventure filled with love, growth, and countless hilarious moments.
Hey Mamas,
Can I ask you all something? How are you keeping your little ones busy this summer? Today, I decided to be a fun Mom. I transformed into a jumping Matt, a WWE referee, and an honorary member of the teenage New Mutant Ninja Turtles, all before noon.
But let me share something important with you. It's not about being the "fun" mom; your little ones don't care about how "fun" you are. They only care that you're there, fully present with them. It's about the laughter and the bond you create, which in turn becomes cherished memories. That's what being a mother is truly about.
Don't stress yourself out thinking, "Am I fun enough?" Don't compare yourself to what you see on social media, where families seem to take countless trips to amazing places like Disney. Maybe right now, a trip to Disney isn't feasible for you, and that's absolutely okay. The true joy comes from simple moments at home with your child. Coloring, drawing, painting pictures, and reading books together. It's about being there, not just physically in the same room or house, but truly connecting with your children. It's about understanding what they love and exploring those interests with them. Show genuine interest in their passions. That's what being there is all about. That's what being a real "fun" mom means.
Hey Mamas,
In the world of motherhood, everyday tasks like feeding a toddler can turn into a comedy of errors. Parents often struggle with the Mealtime Dance, where they prepare a meal that looks like a 5 star meal but is met with "eww yucky". We become masters of disguise, hiding vegetables in various dishes, but our toddlers see through their clever tricks and declare they don't like green stuff. The Food Refusal Tango is another common issue, as toddlers have an unpredictable taste buds that can reject unfamiliar or suspicious-looking foods. One day, they devour a plate of mac and cheese without question, while the next day, they categorically reject it as if it were the world's worst culinary creation. They also have an extraordinary talent for turning snack time into an all-day affair, making it difficult for parents to plan meals. Moms should remember that picky eating is just a phase that most kids eventually outgrow. In the meantime, embrace the chaos, laugh at the absurdity, and cherish the messy memories. There's nothing quite like the love and laughter shared around the dinner table, even if it involves a few food-related mishaps along the way.
Hey Mamas, This is a story of transformation.
If you were to ask me who I was in the past couple of years, I wouldn't have had an answer. I was trapped in a cycle of anxiety, depression, overwork, and exhaustion. I was simply running on fumes. I believe that most, if not all of you, can relate to the stress of 2020. But even before that, I experienced the heartbreak of a miscarriage. And during 2020, amidst a global pandemic, I brought my second son into the world. Perhaps there are other mothers here who also have 2020 babies. It was a challenging time, going to doctor's appointments alone, unable to have the father by my side, struggling to breathe through the mask, all while worrying about bringing a new life into such uncertain times. "Stressful" doesn't even begin to describe it. My anxiety and depression grew, and I found myself overwhelmed, overworked, and sleep-deprived. I felt broken, constantly crying and praying for guidance. But then, I made the decision to take a step back and rest. I took a leave from work. And though the anxiety and depression were still present, I knew I needed to push forward. After a couple of weeks, I returned to the workforce, starting a new job that required long hours and a lengthy commute. I would come home late, only to face the challenges of a toddler who wouldn't sleep through the night. Mornings were early, rushing to get my older son ready for school before heading off to work. It was an overwhelming and stressful time for me. And just when I thought things couldn't get any harder, the dynamics changed once again, and I had to take another leave from work. I had to leave my job. It was a tough decision, but it was necessary for the well-being of my children, myself, and my now-husband. During that time, however, something beautiful happened. I connected with God. It felt right, and I found a sense of calm and peace. My anxiety began to subside. It was a new perspective on life for me. I realized that I had to be stripped of everything to truly know and connect with God. The journey hasn't been easy, and I'm still on it, but time and time again, no matter the obstacles I faced, God showed me that He was there for me, unwavering and constant. So what's the point of sharing all of this?
I want to tell you, fellow momma, that you will get through it. With God, we can overcome anything. Recently, I embarked on a five-day fast. It was a way for me to drown out the distractions of the world and truly connect with God. I was seeking a breakthrough. And what I discovered is that He is the solution, the way, the rescuer, everything I needed. He is the same God who freed His people from the stronghold of Egypt with His mighty arm (Exodus 12). God has the power to free you from your depression and anxiety. All you need to do is trust Him. I understand that it may be difficult to trust in someone you can't physically see, especially when times are tough. But I'm here to ask you, what do you have to lose? Take a leap of faith today, trust in God, and witness the transformative power it can have on your life.
